Our first real argument was on our last day in Florida. (11/10/2017) Gregory wouldn’t go with me to see my father before he left for work. Gregory "made plans to meet his dad for lunch" the same time my dad was only available. We had to leave the next morning for North Carolina. My argument was that I wanted to see everyone equally before we left. Gregory refused to even compromise and stormed off. We had some time to cool off since we didn’t spend much of the day together. Then the separate drive the next day we were back to normal. We talked on the phone most of the eight hours that it took to get to North Carolina.

We arrived that evening at our dog friendly Hotel for the first weekend. (our house didn’t have the water on yet)

Soon our things arrived and so did my sister, Valerie and brother-in-law, Thomas. Just in time for our first Thanksgiving on our own. Valerie and T.J. (Thomas) wanted to visit, hike and tour the area. So, I tagged along since Gregory had to work, and made sure we got groceries for Thanksgiving dinner as well.

Because Gregory was only off work on Thanksgiving Day, that was the day he wanted to go on a hike. Bright and early he dragged me out of bed (in 30-degree weather may I add) to go to a special location to hike. He couldn’t pick anything close. Forty-Five minuet drive, to a trail we hiked down to an amazing waterfall. I was so cold, but it was so pretty that I had to take my gloves off to take pictures on my phone. Gregory asked T.J. to take our picture in front of the waterfall on his Go-Pro (while Valerie wondered around still). He turned to me and thanked me for joining him on this adventure, the move, and for being his best friend. (Now in my head I’m worried he’s getting too mushy and T.J. is going to yell at us to cut it out and take the picture already...Thank God I held my tongue.) He finished turning toward me and I saw him start to kneel... OMG he is not! (Then I notice Valerie had been filming. She is a sly one, that girl)

Yes, he asked me to Marry my Best friend!

As cold as it was, I defiantly could not put my gloves back on at this point! I was wearing too pretty of an engagement ring! Gregory already packed for the occasion, Champagne in the camelbak instead of the water pack and two travel wine glasses. We finished the bottle and Valerie drove us back to the house to start our first Thanksgiving meal in our new home. Oh, was I extra thankful this past year, as I have been since I’ve met the man.

Later, I found out what started our argument that last day in Florida. Apparently, there was an issue with getting the right back that he purchased back in October. It was supposed to be back from being sized in California the week prior, but took longer. Gregory not only stormed off to meet his dad, He went to pick up my ring, but couldn’t tell me this of course.... We laugh about it now.

I was shocked after learning how long he had this planned and how many people knew it was going to happen! Gregory defiantly pulled this off and no one spilled the beans before he could ask! I am so blessed to have him and such wonderful friends and family to support us!
